Mercy Youth Chat was started by two sisters and their childhood friend from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. They saw a lack of support for Muslim youth in their community and felt the need to do something about it. Growing up as first generation Canadian Muslims all three young women experienced the impact of challenges regarding mental health, culture clash and identity crisis from a young age. They gathered together and made it their mission to start MYChat for the youth by the youth in hopes to provide support and help to those in need in a time where mental health is still stigmatized.
